A life coach is not a person who has her “life together”

My mouse hovered over the “Apply” button. Was I delusional to think I should sign up for life coach training? The life coaches I’d worked with for the past five years all seemed to have well-established routines and a sense of discipline about the goals in their lives. I admired them and wanted the time and location freedom they enjoyed, while doing meaningful work that changed lives. One glance around my life revealed…a work in progress, to put it mildly.
Here’s why I ultimately did hit “Apply” (not once, but twice!) and began my training as a life coach: we learn from the obstacles we’ve overcome, and we develop tools as we struggle with our “stuff”. A good coach has been in the same place you find yourself right now, and navigated those hurdles and road blocks. We’re holding up the lantern to illuminate your next best steps, and helping you reach the destination on your map.
